What you study
Statistics and probability, machine learning, databases and big-data tools, Python and R, data visualisation and a domain: business, finance, biology or engineering. Bioinformatics at Vilnius University combines genomics with computing; Financial Data Analytics (FINDATA) joins data methods with sustainable finance. Most programmes end with a thesis on real data, often from a company.

Admission for Indian students
For bachelor's programmes, Class 12 with strong mathematics. For master's, a quantitative degree; Vilnius University asks for IELTS 6.5 and VILNIUS TECH for a recorded interview and two academic references, and accepts only B.Tech/B.E. from India. A three-year B.Sc. in statistics or mathematics is acceptable at Vilnius University if the content matches.
Career and salaries
Data analysts, BI developers and data engineers are hired by Vilnius banks, fintech companies, telecoms, e-commerce and shared-service centres, often in English. IT and finance are among the better-paid sectors in Lithuania, where the average gross wage across the economy was ₹2.8 lakh (€2,628.20) a month in mid-2026.
Recognition in India
The degrees are recognised EU degrees. For Indian PhD admission or government roles, get AIU equivalence; private employers look at your skills and projects.
