Why Indian students choose VILNIUS TECH
The university started in 1956 as the Vilnius evening department of the Kaunas Polytechnic Institute and became an independent technical university in the capital. It still has the feel of an engineering school: big laboratories, its own aviation institute next to Vilnius airport and strong civil engineering and construction-management faculties.
What sets it apart for Indian applicants:
- Merit waivers: tuition can be free with 80% marks. The rule is published, so you know your chances before you apply.
- AI and computing: five bachelor's and master's programmes in artificial intelligence, plus cyber security, computer engineering and data science.
- Vilnius: the capital has most of the country's IT employers and the largest Indian community.
The catch is the strict rule for master's applicants from India: only B.Tech and B.E. degrees are accepted.

Tuition and the registration fee
VILNIUS TECH publishes five fee levels for 2026/27:
- bachelor's in business and management: ₹4.2 lakh (€3,950);
- bachelor's in engineering and IT: ₹5.3 lakh (€4,950) (two IT programmes cost ₹4.3 lakh (€4,050));
- architecture: ₹6.6 lakh (€6,250);
- master's in business: ₹5.8 lakh (€5,450);
- master's in engineering and IT: ₹6.9 lakh (€6,450).
After conditional acceptance you pay the first year's tuition plus the ₹21,300 (€200) registration fee. Both are refunded if your visa or residence permit is denied.
Scholarships based on marks
The university reduces tuition according to your previous grades:
- 80% or more: tuition-free study;
- 70% or more: a 50% or 25% discount.
The scholarship has its own deadline, which was 20 April in 2026, about two months before admission closes. If you want a waiver, apply in the first months of the cycle. Other options are on our scholarships page.
Careers
Graduates in construction, transport and IT go to Vilnius employers: engineering consultancies, logistics companies, banks' technology centres and software firms. Aviation graduates have options at the Vilnius airport cluster, though many such jobs ask for EU licences or Lithuanian. For the job-search permit after graduation, see after graduation.
How to apply from India
- Apply online by 15 June and pay the ₹10,600 (€100) fee.
- Bachelor's: upload your apostilled Class 12 mark sheet with at least 60% in mathematics, physics or the subjects relevant to the programme.
- Master's: upload your apostilled B.Tech or B.E. degree and consolidated mark sheet with at least 60% overall. Three-year degrees are not accepted.
- Record the online interview within five days of the invitation. Master's applicants send two academic references; architecture applicants take a test.
- The Study in Lithuania centre contacts applicants from India to check documents before the decision.
- Pay the first year's tuition and the registration fee, then apply for the residence permit with the university's mediation letter.
English: IELTS Academic 5.5 with no band below 5.5, TOEFL iBT 70, PTE 48, Duolingo 100 or Cambridge First 160. You are exempt if your previous studies were fully in English. See also admission and apostille.
Dormitories
VILNIUS TECH dorms are in Saulėtekis, next to the main campus. A place costs from ₹9,030 (€85) a month in a triple room to ₹29,800 (€280) for the best singles. There is a ₹63,800 (€600) refundable deposit, so the first payment for housing is higher than the monthly rent. Read studying in Vilnius for private housing prices.
