- Year 3: pathology, microbiology, pharmacology and the transition to clinical subjects such as propaedeutics.
- Years 4–5 (clinical): rotations in internal medicine, surgery, paediatrics, obstetrics and gynaecology, neurology, psychiatry, infectious diseases and other specialities, in university hospitals.
- Year 6: clinical practice (sub-internship) in hospital departments, and the final state examination.
The exact order of subjects differs between LSMU and Vilnius University; both publish the study plan on the programme page.
Where clinical training happens
LSMU students train at the Kaunas Clinics, the university's own hospital. Vilnius University students train at Vilnius University Hospital Santaros Klinikos and other Vilnius hospitals. In the clinical years you work with patients, many of whom speak only Lithuanian, so learning the language early pays off.
