How to Get Admission to MBBS in Lithuania for September 2027: Timeline, Tests and Documents

MBBS admission in Lithuania runs on a long calendar: LSMU accepts applications from 1 November 2026 to 6 July 2027, Vilnius University from 1 December 2026. Applying early matters, because the residence permit takes up to two months and must be issued before the course starts on 1 September.

Timeline for September 2027

  1. Check eligibilityClass 12 with physics, chemistry and biology, a qualifying NEET result, and English proof.
  2. Apply onlineLSMU from 1 November 2026, Vilnius University from 1 December 2026.
  3. Test or scoreSend NEET 650+ (or another accepted score), or sit the university's online exam.
  4. Accept and payPay the registration fee and the deposit or first-year tuition.
  5. Residence permitApply with the mediation letter through VFS in India.

  • November 2026 – February 2027: prepare documents, apostille your Class 10 and 12 certificates, take IELTS if applying to VU. LSMU opens applications on 1 November, VU on 1 December.
  • 12 January – 15 July 2027: LSMU online tests and interviews. VU exam sessions run in the same months; non-EU applicants should book an early date.
  • May 2027: NEET exam. If you expect 650+, you can wait for the result instead of taking the test, but that pushes your permit application into June and July.
  • Within days of the offer: pay the registration fee and the deposit or tuition.
  • June – August 2027: residence permit through VFS (up to two months).
  • Late August: travel and orientation; classes start on 1 September.

Documents

  • Passport, valid well beyond the first year.
  • Class 10 and Class 12 certificates and mark sheets, apostilled by the MEA; see apostille and attestation.
  • NEET scorecard (needed for the NMC in any case).
  • English certificate, or plan to take the university's test (LSMU).
  • Motivation letter and CV, if the university asks.
  • Later, for the permit: proof of funds, health insurance, police clearance as required, and the university's mediation letter.

The two routes into the programme

Score route. NEET 650 or more replaces the entrance test at both universities, and the score is valid for two years at VU. LSMU also takes UCAT 2,100, MCAT 511 or IMAT 57; VU takes MCAT 500, IMAT 50 or a qualifying BMAT. This route suits strong NEET candidates who missed a government seat in India.

Test route. LSMU's test is an online motivational interview plus a 90-minute exam with 30 biology and 30 chemistry questions, with results the next day. VU's online exam costs ₹21,300 (€200). Students weak in biology or chemistry in English can take LSMU's ten-week online Pre-Med course (₹2.3 lakh (€2,200)) before the test.

Money at each stage

  • LSMU: ₹15,900 (€150) after positive preliminary feedback, ₹26,600 (€250) registration after the offer, then a deposit of half the year's tuition (₹6.8 lakh (€6,400) at 2026/27 rates).
  • VU: ₹10,600 (€100) application fee, ₹21,300 (€200) for the exam if you sit it, then the first year's tuition within 15 days of pre-acceptance.

Ask each university in writing what happens to the deposit or tuition if your residence permit is refused.

After admission

What is the eligibility for MBBS in Lithuania for Indian students?
Class 12 with physics, chemistry and biology, a qualifying NEET result for NMC purposes, and English at the level the university requires: B1 at LSMU, IELTS 6.5 or equivalent at Vilnius University. You also pass the entrance test or present NEET 650+ or an accepted international score.
When should I apply for MBBS in Lithuania?
Between November and March is best. LSMU accepts applications until 6 July 2027 and Vilnius University sets its own exam deadlines (non-EU applicants had to test by mid-May in 2026), but the residence permit needs up to two months after you get the mediation letter.
Can I take the entrance test from India?
Yes. The LSMU test and interview and the Vilnius University medicine exam are held online, so you do not need to travel to Lithuania before admission.
Do I need IELTS for MBBS in Lithuania?
For LSMU, B1 English is enough, shown by a certificate or the LSMU English test. For Vilnius University you need IELTS Academic 6.5 or an equivalent, unless your previous studies were taught in English.
